This is HUGE category because we have so many. We’re talking speakers, amps, computers, gaming systems, iPads, tablets, smart watches, cameras, TVs, and more. Whatever is on dad’s wish list, as far as electronics go, we probably have it. Don’t forget some add on items like a few DVDs or Blu-rays. Our electronics are tested and are in good shape so you can rest assured that you are giving a quality preowned item. However, keep in mind that not all of our electronics are used, we even have some stellar deals on brand new, in the box, electronics.

Musical Instruments

If you want to see an impressive selection of guitars and amps, check out Oaks Pawn near you! We have electric and acoustic guitars that will wow you. If the special dad in your life is musically inclined, you will find an amazing instrument to knock his soaks off. All of the guitars are in good shape and can be tested out on site. Designer Sunglasses

Our guys like to look good too. Nothing is better in mid-June than a cool pair of shades. We only offer the cleanest glasses and are selective of the ones we have in our showroom. Watches

Does that special “dad” already have a watch? Well believe it or not, men like to collect watches and want more than one or two (or even five). If they are like our security man, Kenny, they want a watch to coordinate with every outfit. We have watches to fit every budget and style. Designers including: Rolex, Cartier, Tag Heuer, Fossil, Movado, Invicta, Timex, Seiko, and so many more. A lot of the watches have their original boxes but if not we have nice presentation boxes and gift-wrapping available.

Sporting Equipment

In this category I am going to include handguns, rifles, bows, fishing gear, golf clubs, tennis rackets, kayaks, and ammo. Our handgun selection is quite extensive and we offer new and used handguns/rifles. We also have the ammo to match it. This is a specialty category so your local pawn shops will have unique items in this list. I’ve seen our stores carry jet skis, golf carts, ping pong tables, pool cues, and so much more.

Tools

If your dad enjoys his alone time in the garage or tool shed, this is the category for you! Our tool selection will leave you pretty impressed. New and used tools are offered in all different needs. Stop by and check them out. This category changes daily too, so be quick to shop or let your pawn shop representative know what you might be looking for and they may be able to hunt it down for you.

This is a type of transaction that happens quite a bit at pawn shops. You bring in your old computer to sell and get a “new” one. Whether you want a different type or a newer model, this is the way to go. This works with jewelry too. Bring in your old broken jewelry items (whether gold, platinum or silver) and trade towards something else that will refresh your jewelry wardrobe. You can do apply this same system to anything you see. Your small TV for a bigger one, your push lawn mower for a riding one, your Michael Kors handbag for a Louis Vuitton, your rifle for a revolver handgun and so on. What do you want to “trade up”?

Recently I saw a photo of a designer handbag on our Instagram. It was a Louis Vuitton cross body clutch purse that had me drooling. Later that evening I started to go through my jewelry box and my own bag collection to see what I could trade in to get that fabulous bag from earlier. I had a few pairs of gold earrings that I never wear, a Brahmin bag with the tags still on it that was a birthday gift that just isn’t my style and my hubby’s designer watch that we upgraded many months ago. I figured I would take all the items in and see what we could make happen. You would be surprised at how much you get for your “trade ins”. Just bring it all in a see what kind of sweet deal we can work up for you on any item in the store! This really is the trick of the trade! ;o)

Layaway

You see the item you’ve been waiting for in our showroom. You’ve been hunting for ages for this computer, handgun, watch, game system etc and you just know that if you wait until next payday that beauty will NOT be there. What should you do? Layaway!!! We will hold your item for you with a small deposit and you can either pay on it over time or just pay off the whole total when you have the fund available. We are flexible and will work with you! Also, there is NO fee with our layaway plan. No hidden fees or interest. It’s a win win situation!

We can do better than just price matching, (because most places can’t even match our prices) but we will even let you make an offer on an item or even put it on layaway. Will a pawn shop try and take advantage of me?

I can not speak for every pawn shop out there but I can tell you that Oaks Pawn is different. Not only do we want your business and return business, we want to be your one stop shop. We will do anything and everything in our power to make sure you not only get the best deal but want to tell everyone about your amazing experience. Is buying the same as “pawning”?

When you sell your item, you wish to part with it. When you pawn an item,  you are getting a loan. Whether that item is a piece of jewelry, electronic, musical instrument or power tool, your item is held as collateral and you can get it back once your loan is paid in full. Easy and efficient! You bring in your item, get cash, pay it back, get your item back, and you can do it as often as needed.

Will I get the same amount of money?

Yes, you can get the same amount. You will not get more money for selling versus pawning your item. However, we encourage you to only get a loan for the amount you need at the time so that your payback amount (and interest charges) is not as high. If your item is worth over $1,000 but you only need $100, just get what you need.

Do I need good credit?

Not at all! You pay the same interest rate across the board no matter if you have rocky credit, no credit, or perfect credit. Your item’s value carries the weight of the loan and not your credit.

What do I need to complete the transaction?

We just need your government issued ID and your thumbprint to complete the pawn/loan and you are good to go. The process is quick and easy and you walk away with the cash you need!

 What if I can’t pay back my loan?

Not to worry, we have options for you. You can arrange to make an extension payment which is only the interest charges or you can choose to forgo the payback all together and not return to retrieve your item. We will work with you to matter your circumstance.

What if I forget to pay?

We understand that life is so busy and all of us have tons going on, that it why we will send a text reminder for you to know when your pawn is coming due.

What other questions do you have that we can answer for you?

Because diamonds are the hardest mineral known to man, they aren’t going anywhere and are the epitome of the perfect thing to upcycle, repurpose, reset, and reuse! It may catch you off guard to hear that most diamonds are “used” and have a history. This fact has never bothered me, actually I plan to write a book one day about the journeys and love stories of one diamond. I know what the main problem is though. Some people believe that if they get their engagement ring, wedding band, or anniversary gift from a store other than a retail store that there is some deep, dark, story associated with it and it is going to carry a hex that transfers over to them. I really am not that superstitious, even though my great-grandmother was Native American and had all kinds of superstitions that she adhered too. I guess I am more of an optimist. I have sold and traded jewelry that had nothing but happy memories attached. Just because a piece of jewelry is for sale in a second hand or estate jewelry shop does not mean it has a horrid past. Here is a story that I was a part of that may make you rethink “used” jewelry.

An older couple comes into our store and has been married for over 45 years. The sweet wife has had the same wedding set since their first year of marriage and that wedding set has been a part of raising babies, taking family vacations, Christmases, sport practices, graduations, etc. Those rings have been a part of the “American dream” love story.

All those years of marriage there were many sacrifices made financially so that this lovely family could thrive. Now the time has come when the nest is empty and there is a little extra income to put a little extra sparkle on the finger of the lady who has given her all to her family for many decades. As the “old” set was traded in for a “new” one, you could tell that it was a celebration of where this couple had come from and where they were now. That loving couple walked out with a gorgeous “new” piece of jewelry and were off to continue their amazing love story. The “old” set was then cleaned, polished, and given a little check up (checking prongs, diamonds, etc) by our professional jeweler. When it was shined up like a new penny, it was put out for sale in our store. A few weeks later a nervous but excited young man walks in. He tells me that he only has so much he can spend on his future bride. They are just starting out, just finished school, just beginning new careers, and just starting their love story. He explains that one day he is going to give his bride the world and the biggest ring that he can buy, but right now he needs just a modest wedding set. One that he can afford but one that will be the apple of her eye. Instantly I knew the one! I pulled out the wedding set that had already been a part of an epic love story and handed it over to the young man for him to take a closer look. With eager hands and slightly embarrassed teary eyes, he said, “that’s it!”

He went on to tell me that his future wife loved vintage things and that this little beauty would be the perfect ring to slip on her finger. I was ecstatic that this young man was going to “re-purpose” this “old” set and give it “new” life! Off he went with the small wrapped box bearing the ring that held his future!

I just kind of paused for a few moments to reflect on the “passing of the torch”. I hoped that the older couple knew that trading in their rings had given this young man’s dreams a start. He was able to give his love a wedding set of quality that had stood the test of time and yet still eagerly awaited being a part of a new adventure.

I am a romantic at heart and working at a jewelry store that has these types of stories behind many of our pieces, just adds fuel to my passion for vintage (used) jewelry. I will forever view estate, antique, vintage, retro, Art Deco, Art Nouveau jewelry as a way of carrying on a legacy.

Our High Springs store in located at 18522 US-441 Suit 20 in historic High Springs, Florida. It is open from Monday through Friday, 10:00am to 5:30pm. What type of handguns do you offer?

Currently High Springs has a mix of new and preowned handguns, even a few antique ones dating back to the 1900s!

What is the process if I want to buy a handgun or rifle?

First off, you must have your state issued ID. If you do not hold a concealed weapons permit, there is a mandatory 5 day wait before you can pick up your gun. If you have your concealed weapons permit, no wait is required. You must be 21 years old too.

What if I want to pawn or get a loan on my gun?

You will need to still have your state issued ID with you. We will hold the gun in our safe keeping until you return to pay off your loan. There will also be a background check down at the time of pick up. The amount loaned on the gun is dependent on many factors so the best thing to do is to bring it by the shop for a free estimate.

Do you have any other weapons at this location?

Every time you come in, there will be something new to see! But as of right now, there are many handguns, rifles, crossbows, swords, and knives (including pocket knives that make excellent gifts for Father’s Day!)
